Today was moving day. We left (reluctantly) Lost Dutchman State Park. First we had to dump our tanks at the dump station as we left the Park. We ended up behind a fella that decided today was a good day to flush all his waste tanks. It took nearly an hour before we had our tanks dumped and hit the road.

| One last look at the Superstition Mountains. |
We made our way south to Hwy 60 and then west across the metro Phoenix area to I 10. South on I 10 to Hwy 347 toward Maricopa then south toward I 8. This took another hour. Once on I 8 though it was clear sailing all the way to Yuma. Yuma Lakes RV Park is located about eight miles north of Yuma.
| The 202 Loop over Hwy 60. Traffic wasn't too bad until we hit I 10. Three accidents in about five miles. Thankfully we had no part in any of them! |
| Solar panel array on I 8 |
| Nice to see the greenery of the valley near Yuma. |
| Colored lettuce rows. So pretty. |
| This is a very nice park. Very clean and well maintained. |
| Nice sunset Thursday night. |
Friday, December 13
We had a nice chat with Bill (
Chillin with Patsy) while Pat was off dancin' up a storm. Hopefully we will meet up with them for a longer visit but if not here then at the next stop. Turns out they, and their friends, are going to be around this area for a few weeks.
| This cute little stone awaited us on the truck running board. Hmmmm, who could have left this?? |
Next stop for us today was Yuma to do a bit of shopping. We stopped for lunch at Da Boyz Pizza. We had it a few times last time we were here and it hasn't changed. Very tasty.....and $1 beer too! Next it was over to visit our neighbors from the lake at home. They have a park model here. We got caught up on all the gossip from home then off to Fry's for groceries. It was after dark before we got back to the Yuma Lakes.
Saturday, December 14
We woke to a beautiful morning so time to get out and enjoy a walk.
| Saturday morning sunrise. |
| Lots of fish in this little lake. An out of country fishing license costs about $60. |
| Photographer self-portrait. |
| This pretty guy was out getting some sun. |
| Saw these folks out for an early morning walk. Hmmm, do I know them?? |
They had a craft sale here this morning so I had to go take a peak. There were some nice things here. A couple items caught my eye and I spent $3 on three wooden ornaments.
| This lady had some very nice wooden crafts. Very reasonably priced too. |
| Name signs for your RV. |

| Library and puzzle room |
Back into Yuma today to look for bargains at the markets. We got a few things we were looking for and we'll return another day to search some more.
| Nice pots |
| This fella paints some very nice landscapes on all sorts of items. |
| Over at the Yuma Swap Meet (Mexican market) we had some lunch and a beer while enjoying some entertainment. |
| This band was very good. The little guy playing the guitar kept dropping his pick and his hat kept falling down over his eyes. Too funny! |
We watched some cauliflower harvesting on the way back. These folks sure work hard in order that we can enjoy fresh veggies in the winter in Canada.
| Hand weeding crops. |
| Cauliflower nearly ready for harvest. |
| Harvesting the cauliflower. |
| These guys are FAST. They chop off the cauliflower with a large knife then trim the leaves, stuff it in a plastic bag that they carry on their belt, place the wrapped cauliflower on the conveyor. This takes maybe 15 seconds. Another worker takes the wrapped cauliflower off the small conveyor and places them in boxes. When the box is full it is transported to a central loading trailer. Very efficient and fast. |
Back home we stopped over at Bill and Pat's for happy hour with them and Bob and Joanne, then back home for supper.

| Cheryl, Pat, Bill, Joanne, Bob |
Sunday we move a short way to the west side of Yuma.
......and that was Our View From Here!
Awesome sunrise and sunset pictures, one more night and we head down that way ourselves!
ReplyDeleteWe were just in Yuma yesterday to meet some friends for lunch. Yuma Lakes looks pretty nice. Always nice to be near water in the desert.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!
Great blog and pictures! Tis the season to shop for sure! Nice Happy Hour too! Love the sunset picture!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it safe and sound to Yuma. The traffic and accidents on the big interstates are nasty. Yuma Lakes looks like a lovely RV Park. See you in Q.
ReplyDeleteNice to be in yuma again wish we were there, love that campground and watching them harvest he crops. keep on enjoying you time there and the great weather,
ReplyDeleteSo nice to meet up with you two and get to know you better!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more of that!
Beautiful area for sure. We are looking forward to spending time in the Yuma area for Christmas. Beautiful pottery.
ReplyDeleteJust hate the guy that takes his sweet time at a dump station! Just dump yer sh** and move man! The Phoenix area is a traffic nightmare normally. Nice that we get a look at our next RV park stop lol. Just kidding, we'll be chillin' with the Colibaba's out there.
ReplyDeleteHow did you get $1 beers at Da Boyz? Is that a Friday special? If we do it is usually on our Wednesday shopping day and beer isn’t a dollar.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember seeing any sinks at the Mexican market? We are going to go after Christmas to take a look because we couldn’t find what we wanted in Algodones.
We will be back the beginning of January, hopefully we can all get together.
