After being teased with seeing the many orchards along the road we decided to go visit one to get a closer look. It seems there was one only about 5 miles from the campground so off we went to Joshua Citrus.
Smoke behind the orchard. Likely from burning a sugar cane field.
Huge orchards along the road. Some harvested, others not yet.
Semi-trailer full of oranges.
We stopped at this orchard.
Lots of produce for sale. All of it grown in their orchards.
These Pomelos are the size of your head!
Lots of other products for sale such as jams, honey and sauces and all with fruit from their orchard
Fruit growing paraphernalia
Mechanized pickers
Juice packing booth. Closed today.

Today we left Arcadia and headed further north. Toby's RV Resort in Arcadia was a great spot to spend a few days. I'm sure over half of the folks here are from Canada and most are from Quebec.
The park has a great heated pool that I tried out, and nice clean laundry (and only $1.50 wash or dry). They have a pond in the back corner with a couple of Alligators and some turtles. Lots of activities at this park and they seem to be well attended. We'd definitely stay here again.
But it was time to head further north to our roost for the next couple of weeks.....

Lots of construction along Interstate 75
We're on a hill! First one we've seen since arriving in Florida!

We got set up at Rock Crusher RV Park just in time for the rain to start. It rained pretty hard on Thursday and again Friday but no storms here. It turns out we got out of Arcadia just in time as Thursday there were tornado warning in the area we traveled through on Wednesday.
It rained hard for a couple of days
The Cardinals were trying to stay dry. I took these pictures through the trailer windows so they aren't too clear.

....and that was Our View From Here!
Cool idea to tour the orchard, we have never seen the inner workings of one! We have been amazed at the number of cardinals down here, what a beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteLoved checking out the orchards there, such major operations.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your rainy weather and seeing some new sights when it stops.
Glad you made it safely to your destination.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at how quickly the water disappears in the south east after a rain. There is nothing quite like a rainy day in the south. Enjoy your time at your new park.
Glad you are safely set up in your new surroundings. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures in that area.
ReplyDeleteNice to know you missed the tornado's! We look forward to hearing about your new adventures :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the orchards and how they operate! Enloy your time there for sure!
