An ocean fix and birds too

Monday, December 17
So after two days without seeing the ocean we needed to get our fix so we headed toward Punta Gorda about 45 minutes southwest of Arcadia.

Downtown Punta Gorda

There's just something about a Christmas tree set up among the palm trees that just doesn't seem right.

We headed over to the Marketplace on the pier. Lots of Christmas decorations up here.

Even the civic buildings are in the spirit.

After lunch we headed over to Ponce De Leon Park. On the way we saw lots of these homes had a boat in their back yard.

We came to see the Peace River Wildlife Center. They look after injured birds.

These are beautiful birds.

Bald Eagles

Red Tailed Hawks

This guy was impressive. A Crested Caracara.

Owls

Sandhill Cranes

Great Egret

More Sandhill Cranes

The beach beside the Wildlife Center

Another very impressive sunset over the campground.

....and that was Our View From Here!
