January 27 & 28 (Saturday and Sunday)
Saturday was
Bloggerfest at LaPosa South near Quartzite. It's a great chance to catch up
with Bloggers we have met and of course meet new Bloggers. We left Yuma about
11M and drove north up Hwy 95. We must have met 50 or more rigs all heading
south. The big RV show in Quartzite was ending and I suspect many of the folks
we met were moving on to their next destination and I'm sure many were heading
to Imperial Dam area and the BLM lands.
We arrived in LaPosa
about noon. I checked in with the Visitor Center to see about camping here next
week and ask a few questions about water and dump stations, etc. Then drove
around a bit to scout out some possible sites. We came across this sign. They
seem like nice friendly folk…..but I think we'll find a different location to
park!
 |
| The sign says 'Clothing optional area'. |
We headed over to
the ramada where Bloggerfest was to be held. It was just 1PM and everyone
showed up about the same time. Paula from
In The Shadows was the hostess. Rick
(
Its About Time) booked the ramada and set up tables, George (
Our AwesomeTravels) arranged the signage. Thanks all for setting up the meeting!
It was so nice to
meet the folks and hear their stories. It's interesting that although we all
come from different backgrounds we are all tied together with a common love of
outdoors, adventure, and travel to new places…..and old favorites. You feel an
instant connection with folks you just met. Instant friendship. I hope we get
to cross paths with all these fine folks soon and often. Also, you don't have
to be a blogger to enjoy the lifestyle we have chosen. One lovely couple from
East Texas attended that don't write a blog but their story was interesting and
they enjoy the lifestyle just as the other attendees.
Even though I carried my
camera most of the afternoon……you have to actually take the pictures to enable
the camera to record it! Dummy! Anyway, others were much better at taking
pictures and those in my sidebar blog list will have some great ones.

Sunday was chore
day. We re-arranged some furniture in preparation for our move on Thursday.
Floors needed vacuuming, woodwork dusted, bathroom cleaned, deep cycle
batteries needed a re-charge, and the fridge needed defrosting. It had been
about four months since we defrosted the fridge. You should really never have
to do this on an absorption type fridge but we sometimes but hot food in the
fridge and that creates moisture that settles on the cooling fins, freezes and
over time builds up and needs to be removed to re-establish proper cooling.
 |
| Lots of ice from the cooling fins and freezer. |
 |
| Nice clean fins, ready to cool. |
 |
| No frost in the freezer now. |
and That was Our View
From Here!
It sounds like you have had a great few days.
ReplyDeleteMy fridge also needs to be attended to from time to time but it's a good chance to clean everything out and wipe it down.
I spend more time taking the outdoors back outside than I do doing anything else. The floor is always in need of sweeping.
Safe travels ahead.
Once we get to the desert we'll be doing our share of sweeping for sure!
DeleteIt was fun to see your guys again and bloggerfest always a great time. Back in ontario in the summer when it is sp humid we need to defrost about once a month or sooner, in the southwest we can get by most of the winter with the low humidity.
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to seeing you guys again soon.
DeleteI think the key for us is to be sure food is cooled fully before we put it in the fridge.
Wow, you guys were not far from us!
ReplyDeleteYou're not in that Magic Circle are you?! :-)
DeleteNice seeing you two at Bloggerfest. Hope you enjoy your time in Quartzsite La Posa South. You'll find a great spot, lots will be empty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat. We may move into the area you guys are vacating.
DeleteLoved meeting you two at Bloggerfest..you have a great blog and we'll enjoy following!
ReplyDeleteThanks! So nice to meet you guys too. I added your blog to my sidebar. I like yours a lot.
DeleteEnjoyed meeting you two at the Bloggerfest. I'm located off hwy 95 on Palm Canyon Road and the parade of RVs is nonstop heading south.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time here in Quartzsite. Lots to see.
Thanks Doug. It was a pleasure to meet you. We saw the road you are on. The scenery is incredible out that way.
DeleteHope we run into you at some point.
We sure enjoyed meeting you both at Bloggerfest and hope our paths cross in the future!
ReplyDeleteWe loved meeting you guys as well. I'll be reviewing your blog about Florida. Still need some tips!
DeleteIf you are headed to LaPosa South I am sure you will find a great place to park lots of space out here. People think it is all fun and games but there are still chores to do. We just have a lot better view and weather when we are doing them. I thought Cheryl mentioned she saw the Stinger "B" when you were riding around. If the Jeep is parked by it we are home, stop in.
ReplyDeleteThe work never ends, but yes, the view sure beats the snow at home! We did see where you guys were parked. We're heading to LaPosa South on Thursday and may look at taking one of the spots you guys vacate.
