January 10 (Wednesday)
Today we went to the
University of Arizona Moody Demonstration Garden in Yuma. The garden was
planted by city, county and University staff and volunteers. It's a great way
to be introduced to various plants, trees and cactus that live in and around
the area.
I took well over 200
pictures and certainly won't bore you with all of them, but here are a few, well quite a few of our
favorites. When I take pictures in a setting like this I try to get a shot of
the sign, then a close-up of the detail, then get a picture of the whole plant
if possible. This way I have a record for my own purposes, and hopefully helps
when sharing. If you are familiar with desert plants then just scroll to the bottom.

After this workout
(ha!) we thought we should try out Lin's Chinese Buffet. It comes highly
recommended so today was as good a day as any. There will be NO supper tonight!

Tonight we were treated to a very nice sunset. Once the sun goes down the colors linger for nearly an hour before night takes over. That was Our View From Here!
Thank you for the tour of the garden and the naming of various plants/trees/cactus. I've heard about Lin's and you've just confirmed what everyone else says, so at some point I'll have to check it out. I enjoyed the sunset pictures as well. It looked like the perfect end to a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteThe sunsets in this part of the country are absolutely gorgeous!
DeleteNice to get names for all those cactus, glad you enjoyed Lin's and the moire desert sunset are wonderful as well.
ReplyDeleteI need to take a book with me because the desert doesn't have name tags!
DeleteBeautiful garden tour! I wish I could remember all of those names when I'm out and about. Glad you enjoyed Lin's, looks like you were very well behaved and didn't overfill your plates like we all did!
ReplyDeleteI didn't feel very well behaved as I rolled out of Lin's!
DeleteEnjoyed looking at your garden tour since we were looking at some plants to put around our new site. I found a couple I like in your post so will be looking for them specifically. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHope you find some good varieties that will grow well on your site!
