I know I should quit complaining about the hot humid weather here in Florida, but even the locals are turning on air conditioners. It's about 10 degrees above normal and humidity is high, more like June they tell me. The strong El Nino that has developed this winter is to blame apparently. There is a LOT of wet weather in the northern gulf states and the hot air in Florida is blocking it. That and the jet stream and we have uncomfortable weather over much of the US this week. That will change soon.
We packed up and hit the road toward Alabama. First we headed up Hwy 98 through Perry, FL and then connected to I10 just east of Tallahassee. We continued west past Pensacola and out of Florida into Alabama. Our campground, Wilderness RV Park is just south of I10 near Robertsdale, AL.
We said goodbye to our resident Cardinal that we saw every day in our site.
This was one of two Pileated Woodpeckers that showed up one morning. They are well over a foot long.
So long Crystal River. Hope to see you again!
Lots of traffic on Interstate 10.
Tallahassee is the State capital of Florida
Lots of trees down and damaged west of Tallahassee. This is where Hurricane Michael came through in the fall. Most of the damage was on the coast near Panama City and Mexico Beach.
The rivers are very full. Lots of rain has fallen in this area later.
They are working hard at cleaning up the fallen trees.
Damaged signs
Lots of damage in Panama City
Crossing the Escambia Bay just east of Pensacola. It was raining lightly for much of the way through the Florida panhandle.
Overpasses through Pensacola
Even the overpasses celebrate the Navy Blue Angels aerobatic team.
Our home for the next week.
Sites are a bit tight and they were very soggy with all the rain they have had.
They have a fish pond on site. Nice reflections on this fine morning.
Bath house and laundry. Looks a bit rough from the outside.
That puddle in the center is the laundry discharge I think. Yuck....and smelly.
Nicely redone showers though.
Pool is a bit dirty. Haven't seen anyone use it though.
Lots to see in the area and we're looking forward to seeing what we can in the next week.
.....and that was Our View From Here!
